The Hon. Busso von Alvensleben, Consul General for the Federal Republic of Germany in the United States, based in New York, was the guest speaker at our May 2012 event at the Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh.

Among the crowd of 110 attendees was Allegheny County Executive, the Hon. Rich Fitzgerald, as well as leaders of German-owned firms and representatives of the GABC's corporate and media supporters.

Herr von Alvensleben's presentation was on an important and timely topic -- "Germany and the Sovereign Debt Crisis - Is Europe Headed for True Unification or Breaking into Multiple Economic Zones?" He was introduced by David Murdoch, Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in Pittsburgh, and graciously fielded questions afterward. During his visit to Pittsburgh, his second trip here, he also toured several German-owned manufacturing facilities and met their executives.

Immediate past GABC chair Stephan Liozu received congratulations for his selection by the Pittsburgh Business Times as a "Diamond Award" winner as one of the region's top CEOs.
